The emergence of a range of new ICT technology focused on the dispersion of cloud computing and smart devices is establishing new boundaries for productivity and innovation in our business environment. Accordingly, recent cloud platform and network technology research has been actively moving toward new areas of implementation and service provision. OpenStack has become recognized as an essential open source cloud technology and the expectations for Software-Defined Networking(SDN)continue to expand.

The Okinawa Open Laboratory has taken this opportunity to put together the "Okinawa Open Days 2013" event to be held over the two day period of 12-13 December. Day 1 "OpenStack Day"and Day 2 "SDN Japan" will combine to bring Japan's two largest events in the open cloud and emerging network technology fields to be held in tandem in Okinawa. Okinawa, as an entry point to Asia, leverages its geographic advantages to position itself as a center for global research activity. We believe the hosting of an international event focusing on OpenStack and SDN will provide a stage for the acquisition and exchange of information for all those involved in leading edge ICT technology.

We look forward to your support of the event and your presence in Okinawa in December.
