The Internet Society (ISOC) launched the Internet Hall of Fame in 2012 http://www.internethalloffame.org/ as a means of celebrating individuals whose extraordinary contributions have made the Internet, its worldwide availability and use, and its transformative nature possible. On April 8, 2014 the announcement of the 2014 year inductees included the late Dr. Masaki Hirabaru, recognized for his crucial contributions to the deployment of the Internet’s resource management in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Hirabaru enjoyed a strong connection to the Fukuoka area. He made essential contributions to both the APNIC and APAN communities. Both communities will gather in Fukuoka in March on the occasion of the APRICOT-APAN 2015 conference providing us with a unique opportunity to celebrate Dr. Hirabaru’s induction to the Internet Hall of Fame with a memorial party to be held from 18:00 Wednesday, 4 March 2015.
We welcome your attendance in celebration and remembrance of Dr. Hirabaru.
